What is a proof of concept?

A proof of concept, or PoC, is a bounded exercise to test whether an idea or approach is feasible under stated conditions. It should answer a specific question with agreed evidence and limits.

Define the scope, environment, owner, success criteria, and stopping conditions before beginning. A successful technical demonstration does not automatically establish production readiness, customer adoption, security, or commercial value. Record what was demonstrated and what remains untested, then agree the next decision with the people responsible for the broader workflow.
