What is product-market fit?

Product-market fit describes a situation in which a product meets a meaningful need for a market well enough to support sustained demand. It is an interpretation of customer and business evidence, not a universal score or a permanent certificate.

How to use this concept

Look for patterns in adoption, repeat use, retention, customer commitment, and delivery effort for a defined segment. A few enthusiastic customers or early revenue may be useful evidence, but their context matters. Check how customers were acquired and served, and whether the same value can be delivered repeatedly. Different businesses need different measures.
