Work through illustrative cash, pricing and cost scenarios with clear assumptions and checks.
A sale and the receipt of its payment can occur at different times. Planning with sales alone can hide the period in which suppliers, staff or other obligations need to be paid before customer cash arrives.
Read field noteInclude opening usable cash, expected receipts, scheduled payments and the resulting closing position for each period. A weekly view can reveal timing pressure hidden in a monthly total.
Read field noteIn a simplified operating-cash model, net burn is cash outflows minus cash inflows over the same period when outflows exceed inflows. Define what is included and keep financing or other exceptional movements separate when they are outside the model.
Read field noteA simplified runway estimate divides available cash by a positive assumed net burn per period. It describes how long that scenario could continue if the included movements stay unchanged.
Read field noteThe distinction helps explain how total cost changes when delivery volume changes. Some costs remain stable within a capacity range, some increase with each job and others rise in steps.
Read field noteA simplified contribution estimate subtracts the included variable delivery costs from the revenue associated with an output. It can help compare scenarios, but it is not total profit because fixed and other excluded costs still matter.
Read field noteKeep expected receipt dates and payment status visible, then test what happens when selected receipts arrive later. This does not mean assuming every customer will default.
Read field noteCheck the scope, included costs, capacity and purpose of the discount. Lowering the price does not automatically lower delivery effort.
Read field noteRecord the source, confidence, timing and review trigger for material estimates. A cash sheet can produce precise totals from uncertain inputs, so the assumptions need to remain visible.
Read field noteA simplified customer acquisition cost divides the included acquisition spend by the number of acquired customers under a stated definition. It becomes misleading when periods, costs or customer events do not match.
Read field noteConnect each subscription to the task it supports, its real use, renewal conditions and the cost of replacing it. An unused tool is a different issue from a low-use tool that supports a critical monthly task.
Read field noteBring current records, a clear decision and the uncertainties you cannot resolve from the simplified plan. A useful conversation with a qualified finance professional begins with context rather than a request to validate a preferred answer.
